Limnos

The island and its Wine History

Limnos is one of the few places in Greece which remain truly authentic; this multi-faceted mythical home of Hephaestus and the beloved land of Homer was –and remains– a crossroads of cultures and peoples.

Limnos, Greece’s eighth largest island, is located in the centre of the Northern Aegean between Lesbos, Samothrace, Imvros and Agios Efstratios. Volcanic, with a lace-like coastline, forestless but with extensive, particularly fertile plains, the island is home to around 16,000 permanent residents who are involved in agriculture, livestock farming and fisheries, as well as tourism and trade.
